Ran across some per capita income figures- but they are 20 years old, Loving County Texas led the nation $34,173 2nd went to Falls Church , Va $20, 699 then Arlington, Va Alexandria, Va $19,783 the list goes on.... all a poor second. Oh yes back to the subject- the people should be getting lock washers with our gas- we are getting a real "Texas " size screwing. heres the thing...i am not worried about whether or not you can buy gas..so as long as i am making money off stocks in oil and causing more people to not afford it then buy all means let it keep going up

Unless you have thousands of shares in Exxon Mobil or some other huge corporation, which I highly doubt that you do, you are not better off than any of the rest of us. Those companies do not pay that good of a dividend. If you have to drive anywhere at all, you will not come out ahead.

the prices will go back down after Easter holiday travel stops, I paid 2.89 a gallon today here in Greenville, filled up for my trip home tonight. What are the prices back there?

He would be better off to invest in a coal company(at least there is some information locally), there are too many risks in the oil. Take Enron, how do you decide to sell the stock, at what point? I bought some Arch stock at $17.00(401k option- I didn't get rich [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]) , held it for a couple of years and sold it when it dropped from $82.00 to $79.00. Without the inside information, and you won't find much of that around here, you will have a hard time predicting what your stock is going to do. Several Westmoreland foremen bought their friend's shares of stock for $1, when WCCO filed bankruptcy, now 11 years later it is back up to $28.06, pretty good money for a buck a share and 11 years. Arch is at $77.80 ,I got out 9 months ago, looks like I made a pretty good choice. At the time , Arch had to close a portion of a longwall mine in the west due to a "thermal event" (I would describe it as a fire) ,no injuries, but the mine was idle for a while and the stock dropped a couple of bucks in the next 3 days. If you don't have some way to monitor the companies daily( almost that close, anyway), you can be left holding the bag. [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] They aren't going to notify the stockholders if they are having problems.

actually the best things to invest in right now is in oil gold and silver and trust me i have been playing the stock market for 4 years and dont think i dont know what to invest in at 15

So what oil companies do you invest in and how many shares do you have? What kind of dividend do they pay?

Seen where in some locations already over $4 a gallon. What some haven't considered. This was not forseen. So what all else goes down hill, while we watch the prices go upward.

I read an article that most of TN. gets their money for road repairs and construction from fuel tax. People stop traveling or using as much, that hurts them on road maintenance.
Also, just imagine sports this spring and into fall. People will have to pick and choose what they do. A ball game of any distance, well you see the picture, everything is gonna go up and quick.

A lot of people i knew who use to say don't sweat it. Just a thing. Well now their talking.
What happens when you pay your bills and your gas bill for the month is as high as your rent.

What i still don't understand. None of those who are looking out for us, are doing much about it. Just some talk.
The Middle East still has us and some just don't want to admit it. And not helping ourselves with our own technology, or federal money to build refineries.
If that even the real problem. Don't know about some of you. But i've heard it's this or that, till now it's just old. And man can you imagine the first scare of anything.
No matter what it is. Fix it. That is why your there in Congress etc. And this area what about the elderly and those trying to survive on minimum wage.
Who is looking out for us.

Just venting guys. But i can see this getting ugly. From stealing gas, out of people's vehicles to drive off's cases, becoming a huge deal.
Read where one kid set himself on fire, he stoled gas for his four wheeler dropped something, and struck a lighter, yeah stupid but he was young, and gas was on his pants. 2nd and 3rd degree burns both legs.
I can see it now. What are you in for. I had to go to work so i stoled some gasoline to get there. So now im here. Never thought just trying to get to work would end me up in here.

And what still amazes me. You have people who are still out just acting like this is nothing. Yeah i know their money. But after watching a woman pay her last $5 the other day just to get to work, and then someone sets and let their truck idle for 30 minutes. Yet was inside the little store complaing about fuel prices? Sometimes i wonder if those abroad dont' get a kick out of our stupidity.
Like i said just venting some.
